Kolkata Doctor’s Rape-Murder Case LIVE Updates: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers on Thursday visited the residence of the 31-year-old trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital, and spoke to her parents as a part of their investigation. The CBI also interrogated five doctors of the hospital, its former medical superintendent-cum-vice-principal (MSVP), principal, and the head of the Chest Department where the victim’s body was found, he said.
The Kolkata Police, meanwhile, arrested 19 people and detained three for the vandalism incident at the hospital during midnight protests by those seeking justice. Unidentified miscreants forcibly entered the premises of the hospital shortly after midnight on Thursday (August 15) and vandalised portions of the medical facility.
According to police, a group of at least 40 people posing as protesters entered the hospital premises, hurled stones at cops and vandalised property. They targeted the emergency department, nursing station and medicine store, while also damaging CCTV cameras and ransacking a stage where junior doctors have been demonstrating since August 9, police said.
